Time to Get Your Business Cards!

One of the most important items that you'll need in your networking arsenal if you're attending the upcoming NPPA Conference this August, is your Business Card. You'll be meeting a lot of your peers as well as vendors and speakers, and there is no more professional (and easy) way to present yourself and network, than by handing out a business card. For who don't get business cards from their facilities, here's a way to order quality, inexpensive cards.

On our website in the Pharmacy Buyer Resources section near the bottom of the page is a link for VistaPrint, a free business card printing service. There you can choose a card color, pick out a design, choose your print type, and have 250 business cards delivered to your doorstep (or your office desk), and the total cost for this is your shipping and handling - about $5.

A word of caution: don't wait until the last minute to order your cards. First, designing your card will take time, because every aspect of your card (color, design, type) has to be carefully chosen by you, and that takes a bit of practice and time. You really want to take the time to design a card that is professional, sharp and attractive AND SPELLED CORRECTLY. Nothing looks worse than presenting a card that says, "Jane Doe, CPhT, Memorial Phramacy." Second, even though there are faster delivery schedules, the cheapest (the $5 one) takes about three weeks to have delivered. If you ordered right away, you'll have them by August.

Remember, you're not only representing yourself, you're representing your department and your hospital as well. Make sure the people you network with at the Conference, and later on, back at work, get the proper impression of all three.
