Pfizer Hospira Merger

Anyone else concerned about the Pfizer / Hospira merger? Leaving one manufacture with 60% of the injectable market? The merger it self has caused many stock outs. With permission from the FDA that they will no longer be manufacturing Epinephrine in 1mg/1ml ampule. That leaves us with three manufactures. I am doubting they can produce enough to cover everyone. I just don't under stand how the FTC will stop Media companies from merging because they would hold to much of the market but Big Pharma gets a pass.

Re: Pfizer Hospira Merger

I was just notified that Pfizer will not be producing any sodium bicarbonate vials until September! They changed glass vials that turned out to be defective! This is why I hate the soul source market we are in now!

Re: Pfizer Hospira Merger

Nothing good is going to come from this. Already NaBicarb is unavailable, their rollout of daptomycin is a disaster and the sales reps are corporate drones that cannot answer a question without checking with someone.

I am sure that prices will go up when all is said and done. Standard practice for these companies. The GPO's will roll over and accept the price increases without even batting an eye. And of course the Insurance companies will be months behind in adjusting their reimbursement rates.

Just another day in drug land.

Re: Pfizer Hospira Merger

Thanks for your Post, I'm really hating Pfizer right now, not only are they causing major shortages, but the transition has left our accounting dept. unable to pay invoices since I ordered it under Hospira, but billed under Pfizer. Our system won't allow me to change the vendor once product is received. My rating of this venture very poor Pfizer Corp!!
