All of the staff here at the National Pharmacy Purchasing Association (NPPA) wishes to extend our concern to all of our NPPA members affected by the recent disaster cause by the Oklahoma tornados. We commend the brave and dedicated Pharmacy Buyers, as well as the rest of the healthcare and emergency Community, who are vitally needed in this deadly crisis.
NPPA would like to hear your stories from this experience. If you could share what you, as your facility’s Pharmacy Buyer did as a participant in both Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Relief before, during, and/or after, we would like to publish your stories in the next issue of your official publication, Pharmacy Purchasing Outlook. Send your story, preferably in a Word document by email attachment, to Mike@PharmacyPurchasing.com.
Due to this disaster, NPPA will double the normal Member Incentive for articles contributed that relate to your experiences preparing or dealing with this disaster. So any story published with between 300-550 words, receives $50 for your efforts (normally $25), and $100 for over 550 words (normally $50). To give you an idea of what 300 words looks like, our email message here has just over 300 words, so it’s not as much to write as you may expect. And if you have a story with less than 300 words to report, please still send us a brief statement if possible, as everything on this topic will be accepted, and your words well appreciated by your fellow NPPA members.
NPPA is aware this is a stressful time for you, your facility, and your families, and that it may take time for you to regroup and even gain power back, before having a chance to contribute your experiences with us and your fellow Pharmacy Buyer colleagues. But remember that by sharing your story, you may be able to help another get through this situation, or help better prepare someone when another disaster arises. So we’d greatly appreciate anything you can contribute. Our thoughts are with you in this time of crisis.
