I have seen all the info out there on heparin shorts and outs. they all say that the bags are o.k. and in stock.
Well as of today both of my wholesalers are out of stock. and Baxter and Hospira tell me they are out to. untill some time in 1/2010
Can anyone tell me what they are doing for
HEPARIN D5W 500ML 25,000 UNITS IN BAGS.
I was told by Hospira to get in touch with our rep and maybe she could help us out.
I am also going to call our Ameridose rep and see if they can make it for us.
Just wondering what you guys are doing out in other parts of this country.

Cardinal still had Baxter heparin bags, so I bought a bunch--and that is something I seldom do. Just another of those CYA situations, I guess!

We are making kits consisting of 2 x 10,000 u/1 ml and 1 x 5,000 u/ 1ml vials and a bag of D5W 500 ml for our ED areas and AMI boxes. We started making them recently with patient specific labels from our IV room when we ran out of stock in our Acudose machines. Ameridose is sending us some next week for a reasonable price considering the shortage.
