Re: Talyst Carousel's

Kellie,

We have two as well as two storage areas, and two refrigerators that are all keyed into Talyst. Keep accurate QOH will always be a problem due to framiliarity of where drugs are. That is our problem.

We have made attempts to do cycle counts (if we have staff to do it), but if you have four carousels, then I am guessing you are pretty busy. Our Technicians make attempts to correct the QOH when we do our Omnicell fills, which reduceds the count when things are pulled correctly. As a 24 hour operation, we also rely on that shift to restock and count when possible.

I know that may not help much, but you really have to burn it into your techs (whomever is in talyst the most) to be counting as they go. Naturally the biggest complaint is that we run out of a drug and the cause is an incorrect QOH.

Good Luck!

Re: Re: Talyst Carousel's

Thank you for your response Clark.

I assign 1 shelf of drugs in each Carousel to be cycle counted daily. We also have 4 refrigerators which are included in the cycle count process. So either there is a shelf counted in each of the Carousel's or a refrigerator to count on a daily basis. We also have a separate area where the bulk of our IV bags are kept, static shelving that holds our Albumin, Dialysis bags, etc, and also our Chemo room which holds all of our chemo injectables and po's/topicals. These areas are also counted on a monthly basis. Also, we count all critical drugs on a weekly basis.

Re: Talyst Carousel's

Remember: It takes only one out of a hundred to screw the counts up.
