We are taking it to P & T next week with the recommendation that we no longer stock Ipecac.
According to the ASHP drug shortages website, ipecac is no longer recommended for outpatient ingestion of medications or other chemicals. Also noted on another site:there are better options for treatment in a hospital setting, i.e. activated charcoal.
