Certification testing

Ohio currently does not require certification of pharmacy technicians. It looks like they soon will require it. I've been trying to research getting all of my tech's certified and I have found multiple sites that offer certification testing. My question is ..... which one is the best to choose? The price ranges are very different too. Is it ok to choose the cheapest one (ExCPT for $98.00) or the more expensive one (PTCB for $129.00)? Thanks for any help that you can supply!

Re: Certification Testing

You're in the state that is the center of biggest controversy for non-pharmacists. Even as we speak, PTCB and ASHP are lobbying your legislature to pass Emily's Act, a bill that will require all pharmacy technicians, which may include aides, volunteers and Pharmacy Buyers, to have ASHP-accredited training and PTCB certification.

ExCPT is just as credible legally, but right now you're safest bet is to certify with PTCB, just in case this legislation goes through. This same bill is also in Congress, so the rest of the country might want to watch what happens in Ohio.
