We have an Omnicell SecureVault, and realized there is no way to put expiration dates in on any of the medications. Does anyone out there who has SecureVault have a way to check the outdates?

We manually check the OODs and then waste/expire them as outdated and place them in a safe. We have an RPh that empties the safe as it gets full and we send them through our reverse distributor from there...

What function do you go under to check the outdates? Do you do it at the same time as and audit?

They just open the doors as if they're doing an inventory check, then once they know how many they have outdating, they do a waste and recount. It's kind of archaic, but its the only way we know how to do it...
