Re: Pyxis

We switched to cubies about 2 years ago and are just getting around to evaluating our original use of space.
Make sure you use the smallest size cubie that will fit your max drug quantity and still allow plenty of room so the cubie closes properly. By using the smallest cubie you can you will be able to fit more drugs in each drawer. It is also a good idea to leave empty cubies in each unit to give yourself some flexibility to add new drugs without needing to take something out.
The drawers jam most often because the cubies are not closed properly, so preach to everyone getting into Pyxis to be patient and wait until prompted to shut the drawer.
You will want to have many new cubies on hand to replace ones that for some reason or another just stop working.
Make sure you know how to pop open the cubies during a power outage and hope you never have to do it. (I know this from experience, a bad one)
I will email you our instructions for recovering a cubie that has failed, I always take them with me when our Pyxis tech is not here. Hopefully you will find these tips useful. Oh and to get nurses excited about using the new cubies we put together a test unit in the pharmacy and filled it with candy for nursing to try out.

Re: Re: Pyxis

Thank you so very much. I have the e-mail to recover a cubie drawer. I think it will be a very big help and also the hint's you gave me.
I am looking forward to this upgrade but I am also worried about how much time it will take.(we have had a very busy summer here so far.) AND --- I have never seen or worked with the cubies.
Thank you for your time to respond. Buyers have to be one of the best groups of people!

Re: Re: Re: Pyxis

You never want to over fill these. Ask your Pyxis people if you have "smart cubies". These don't jam as much. We use our for more narcotic counts.
The only problem is that Cubies do not allow us to have witness when there is a fail drawer so having a second pair of eyes is not deemed neccessary. Otherwise we love it.

If they try to talk to you about the Replenishing station for Cubies --don't get it.
