Disaster Preparedness

A small group of buyers for our health system have been given the task of developing an emergency response plan for pharmaceutical procurement for all of our hospitals. We are hoping that other buyers out there have been, or currently are, involved in similar planning, and are willing to share any insight.

Re: Disaster Preparedness

If you're developing an emergency response plan for your health system and you're looking for guidance, you couldn't have picked a better Conference than this one coming up!

Christopher J. Arendt, PharmD, Pharmacotherapy Coordinator for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota will be presenting a lecture at the Conference. He was one of the Coordinators for two of the biggest natural disasters this country has suffered this decade - Hurricanes Rita and Katrina - as well as being one of the coordinators for allocating emergency drug supplies on a local, State and National level. Though they were 1,100 miles away, the Louisana Department of Health specifically requested the services of his facility, the Mayo Clinic.

If you're looking for a resource and someone whose brain you can pick, you'd better bring big baskets to this lecture. You're not going to find a better resource than this. And he also said that he's going to have his Buyer add her perspective as well.

You may want to tape this lecture!
