I had my little experiences with Pyxis back in the late "90". I thought that was great way of dispensing medications. Then again, it was only for a short time...so I can't really say much about Pyxis....
Back in Nov 2006 our hospital went live with Omnicell...The machine is only as good as what we input and how we appropriately utilize them...My personal experiences with Omnicell are good...Then...you have to consider THE NURSES...now this is a new ball game....trying to have them comply with proper operating procedures are an on going issues...
It sound as though you have some kind of Automated Medication Dispensing Machine already in place. So, with that back ground, swithching over to Omnicell would be an easy process...meaning how you would build your cabinets and how you would have it operating....
