Can anyone tell me the real story on whether you have been able to purchase a generic version of Protonix(R)Tablets as made by a company in Cincinnati called Prasco Laboratories? Reports are indicating that this is an authorized generic of Wyeth as made under the ESI Lederle label. First of all, I thought ESI Lederle was defunct, but that's another issue. Teva started to produce a generic at the end of 2007, but now has stopped making it. Seems like the press releases out there do not give a straight story and it changes every few days. Help! I take this drug and am curious whether I can get the Prasco generic on my next refill. This is causing me some heartburn!

ESI was bought by Baxter, so we might want to start there. My Baxter rep was just here and did not say a thing about generic Protonix and she is always on her "A" game when it comes to new offerings.
Very Interesting situation.
