Good Morning Colleen!! In our pharmacy each and every tech including the buyer has an assigned area that they check for out of dates monthly and they are held accountable for that responsibility. It is not a matter of them wanting to or not, it is part of their job. All techs have their own duties for each day and one techs job is at 1pm she starts prepacking if someone gets freed up they come help. If the prepacking isn't completed by the end of her shift the on-call tech will pitch in so she doesn't have to stay late to complete the job. I hope this helps.
Our tech jobs are spelled out like Lori mentioned. One of my jobs is to do the packaging, but most techs know how to use the machine (even though they hate it!) and do packaging when I'm not here. Liking a job isn't really a consideration.
The same is true for checking outdates. Every tech and phamacist has an area in the pharmacy, a Pyxis machine or 2 and some do offsites, too. We have 2 sign off sheets (one for pharmacy areas and one for Pyxis machines) that have to be completed monthly.

Hello,
Our pharmacy uses the MILT software. Designed and Manufactured by EPS Inc. It's a software based on a windows platform and unit doses 25 pills in one go and has a bar-code capability.
All our techs have access to the software and can unit dose whenever the need arises.
