Mark 16:15 - ...Go ye into the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Romans 15:5-6 - Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likemined one toward another according to Christ Jesus: That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorfiy God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
While these scriptures are supportive, they do not carry the reason of this message. I've had a burden, a good burden though, in my spirit about the importance of God, even here. We know by the Word that a house divided cannot stand. If we are in an environment that "does not allow" God within, it can cause a challenge to our spirits. Our spirits strive and grow in the presence of holiness, and while it is true that we will survive and still have God no matter where we are (nothing can separate us from the love of God), to be in that presence food for our soul. Food is needed to keep up strength, and obtained through study and impartation of the Word, fasting, and prayer. First though, we often have to establish the environment to be able to grow and flourish in our spirits. We do this by evangelism. We do this by living according to His ways in the presence of man's world, by encouraging others and giving all glory of our accomplishments to God, and by simply sharing our faith with others. We help create this by speaking the change of our settings into existence and praying faithfully for the change to come to pass. It is important, for our spiritual development, to establish our work place, daily surroundings as a place of haven for our spirits, that the Holy Spirit can dwell and minister to us there.
Look at it as a system of balance. We spend most of each day, each week, and our entire lives at work. Firstly this is the reason why we must keep striving to work in the field and areas that God have assigned for us. We must keep working to make it to the career of God's choice, for that is where we will have peace and joy (in doing God's Will rather than our own). Secondly, our lives as Christians are dedicated to Christ so if He is not first and foremost (meaning primary concern, majority of our lives) then we are hindering our servitude to Him. This is most of our life that we are talking about. If our lives are dedicated to Him, then He must have priority everywhere; and since most of our lives are at work, then He must be there also. Most of our lives is too much of our lives to be without His presence. This is a foundation of why it is so important to evangelize in the workplace, that we may establish a haven for our Spirits in the largest physical time ratio of our lives.
