Re: FDA precription drug wrap up

I got a heads up from my APP rep, so I stocked up on a few drugs that I knew fell into this problem, Vasopressin being one of them. Usually secondary markets have a heads up about this, but even my secondary market guys had no idea this was coming. I have e-mailed every generic company rep I have, but I've heard nothing back from anyone but my APP rep.

This could potententially affect penicillin, etc. because all of those drugs were producted prior to formation of the FDA. It will be a real mess if thats the case, but I've gotten no correspondance at all except from APP, which is strange.

I'd also appreciate any info anyone has a broader list of affected drugs...

Re: Re: FDA precription drug wrap up

I don't think you could handle the list, if indeed there is one. The FDA is targeting EVERY drug, prescription and OTC, that was not reviewed by them from 1938 to 1962. You're already feeling the pinch. Just last Thursday, the FDA halted the marketing of any drug containing ergotamine malate, used primarily in treating migraines.

There's a link I put up in the Bulletin Board section of the web site of the entire text for the FDA guidelines for the marketing of unapproved drugs for industry. You may need this to show to your directors why previously cheap and readily available drugs have suddenly become very expensive and unavailable.
