I just want to get some ideas from my buyer-counterparts.
I have never clearly understood “authorization” for different insurances yet most of our patient base on “MIA—Medically Indignant Adult. We have Pyxis units all over the hospital and these serve as “Medical Cabinets”. We see some charges go through but most meds are dispensed free where we cannot get any money back. Can anyone tell me how to use these units to at least acquire some of the cost back from the “insurance” companies?

We use Omnicell and all drugs are billed regardless of Patient status, what happens after that with regards to payments is on the Billing side of the Hospital. We see all charges on a daily basis and file those but that is as far as we go with that.
