Pardon my ignorance, I'm new to this whole thing, but why do they think 3-5 day par levels won't work? Do you do an order daily?

Yes, I order daily. The problem lies that the mgr is a non-pharmacy person-pure businessman and does not understand the concept and that we can and do keep stock up.

Bean Counters! Your supervisor is in Materials Management? They usually don't have the clinical understanding of someone who actually deals with patient care.

It's your job to educate them, make them see the Pharmacy as a patient, not an Administrator. Make him/her realize that drugs are not a nine-to-five-then-go-home-and-forget-about-it responsibility. If you don't have the drug, someone suffers. Someone dies. Ask that person if they want that responsibility.
