Bahamas info
This is my family's first trip to the bahamas, and we are kind of doing "Bahamas on a shoestring". There will be 2 adults, and 3 kids, 13, 6, and 1. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to eat/what to do that will not break the bank? Hotel (Westin GBI) and Dolphin Experience has already been booked and paid for. Thank you in advance!!

As I mentioned in another post there is a Subway, Dominos and a Duncan Donuts in the marketplace across the street from your hotel. They aren't to bad in price. Higher than the US. If you bring snacks and drink mix from home that would help. The oasis drug store also sells 6 They have a pretty big variety of pretty much everything a drugstore at home would have, even souveners.

Hi Tracy! I hope I didn't miss getting this info to you before your vacation! We recently stayed at the Sheraton at our Lucaya but we were on the all-inclusive plan! We, too, walked across the street to the drugstore and purchased some snacks, sodas, beer, etc. to put in the room refrigerator. The prices were very reasonable and we did get a couple of souvenirs there also (coffee mugs)! I did notice that they had just about everything that a drugstore here would carry! We ate quite a few times at Willie Broadleaf's in the Sheraton (breakfast and dinner) which was very, very good with loads of choices! Not sure what it would cost you for a family of 5 but maybe breakfast (usually less expensive than dinner) would be one to try! FYI - I also bought a Batelco phone card at the drugstore for 10.00 (10 minutes) which worked perfectly fine! A friend who was with us bought one at the marketplace which the pay phone ate! HAVE A FANTASTIC TIME! We are already planning our next trip back to Freeport!

The most affordable restaurant in the Marketplace is China Cafe. They have $4.25 lunch specials and $9 dinner specials. Zorba the Greek is also affordable. You should pack a suitcase with snacks. They are much cheaper in the U.S. Or, pack them in a cardboard box and take it in as luggage. Eat the food and throw the box away. You can take in anything except fresh fruits and vegatables. You can take soft drinks also. |
