Wheelchair accessibility!
As I sit here in the sleet/snow, I am dreaming of my vacation! My husband and I will be traveling to GBI and staying at the Sheraton at Our Lucaya at the of April! I am very excited. I have been to Paradise Island/Cable Beach/Nassau a few times and also to Eleuthera but I am more excited about GBI after everything I have read on your posts! They are so helpful! I am wondering about wheelchair accessibility to Gold Rock Beach. I am able to use crutches very, very well but for long distances (such as shopping), I do prefer the wheelchair! I am also curious about the Bahama Buggies - would they fit a wheelchair - it is a collapsible standard type wheelchair. Also, any info on the new all-inclusive plan at the Sheraton at Our Lucaya would be helpful as that is what we purchased! Thanks again so much and your posts are fantastic!!!

Tammy, Gold rock is definitely NOT accessable by wheelchair. It is actually a fairly long walk - over 1/2 mile - each way. However, the beach at the hotel should be ok. I would suggest a car instead of the buggies. They really have limited room. If you have a car, you can drive to the beach at the Island Seas, which is a very nice beach. Not as nice as Gold Rock, but much easier to get to. Since you are staying at Port Lucaya, you can also go right across the street to the marketplace. They have wheelchair ramps at places, so you shouldn't have much trouble. The market place has many shops, restaurants, and many things to do. You are definitely staying at the right place for easy access. |
