Help with TESOL!
I am a fourth year kindergarten teacher with a class of 36 students. (This is my secong year with ESL) Approximately half of the students speak Spanish only. I do not speak Spanish!!!! My school's philosophy is "sink or swim" which is why they have me - an English only speaker - teaching them. I have a very hard time teaching any subject matter due to the lack of understanding. I want to make the class as enjoyable as posssible for those with limited English. Any tools, ideas, advice, etc....would be GREATLY appreciated - I have a hard time finding resources! Thanks!!!!!!!!! |

In my opinion, whatever you do, don't give in. Don't even let them know u know even a few words of Spanish. Put them in more role playing situations in groups and walk around so that you can hear where they are having trouble expressing themselves. |
