I started the day with the Donnie McClurkin song, “Stand” in my mind. It states, “…after you’ve done all you can, you just stand.” After thinking about it I accepted that this is the leadership of God. God will try and try to help us help ourselves, yet so often we refuse to listen. We rebel and fight to hold on to the wrongful desires and futile attempts to do it on our own. Then finally, once we have exhausted ourselves, diminished all of our pride, and “hit rock bottom,” we look up in desperation and say please help. And because He stood there and waited after He had done everything to offer His help from the beginning and throughout, waiting only for us to say “thank you, your will be done,” we are still able to be redeemed and overcome our situation.
We have the same position as leaders in our lives, even over ourselves. Being a leader is not always popular or fun, but it is not about acceptance; it is about doing the right thing for what needs to be done regardless of what else is going on. When leading, there will always be rebellion and resistance, even when dealing with yourself (internal struggle), but if you just do your best in doing what’s right, and STAND on that RIGHTEOUS, UNWAVERING foundation through the bombard of rejection, the quality of your leadership will shine. Just as the eagle flies alone as more than a conqueror over its environment with the greatest of freedom and the utmost respect, you shall also. For a leader does not force his or her way to be accepted. A leader stands on his or her own strong foundation, going forth with or without followers, and accomplishes what needs to be done regardless of them. A leader STANDS.
