1Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
Matthew 24; 42-44
42"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
Brothers and Sisters,
These are common and regularly heard scriptures, but how often to we really take the time truly think about them, or how often do we truly take them serious? It is so easy in our fleshly bodies to not take it serious, yet as our spirit confirms, we must disregard the flesh and live it as truth with full conviction. Regardless of what we think, the time will come where we may be taken away from this realm, or when Jesus may come back, and more than anything, we must be ready. Just as an example, think back to our old kiddy game, hide and go seek [even though some of the more perverse played a variation called hide and go get ] Anyway though, the last line of the game before the search and find mission included the phrase, "ready or not, here I come." Well, that phrase kind of applies to the second coming of Jesus. Ready or not, he's coming. The only difference is, that we don't have that luxury of the counting. In fact, we don't have a hint exactly, all we know is that it is coming, and it is coming soon. Even worse is that we might not even make it to the next day, much less His second coming. So what do we do?
We live. We live our lives to the best of our ability each and every day. See, we tend to go around looking for, hoping for, and praying for blessings, but we have so much clutter and uncleanness about ourselves that we could not even see a blessing coming. We are not living as if He is here. We know good and well that if we knew for sure that he was coming back tomorrow, we would do everything in our power to get completely clean, and completely in order to be as impressive as possible to the Lord. Yet we choose daily not to put that same effort forth. God on the other hand, (duhhh), sees this lack of effort all the time as He is omnipotent, but that's another message. The point is, we should always carry ourselves and live as if it is the last moment and Jesus is about to come the next second, because it is very possible that He may just do so, and not only that, it's not like we can hide anything in the first place. Obviously, this is not an enlightening or awesome message. This is not one of those messages that brings forth some great revelation of spiritual knowledge, but it is only a reminder that when it's too late it's too late. We need to always be ready, always representing God to the fullest as if it is our last breath because it might just be, always treat everyone with the ultimate love as if Jesus is right beside us, because He always is, and always show ourselves at our best, as (Matt. 5;14- You are the light of the world...). He's ready, are you?
