Greatest Works Are Not Miracles

Dear Brethren,
In these times, as even foretold in the Bible, there is a lot of emphasis on miracles and gifts of the spirit in the church. Miracles are miraculous and gifts are wonderful, but let us not forget the greatest of all these things, which is love. The Bible teaches us that if you have all these things but don't have love, then have nothing (1 Corinthians 13:2). Love is the greatest miracle and the greatest gift that we could give to the world.

Nowadays, people flock to the churches where miracles are being performed. They just got to go to the healing services, and to the miracle services, and nothing is wrong with receiving the blessings of God. Yet, to only chase the visual "signs and wonders," or to place the outer performances before the inner change, is backwards and worth very little. Rather than chasing miracles we should be chasing holiness. Jesus even spoke referring to the miracles, such as when God spoke to him from Heaven, as being for them rather than him that their faith would be built. The miracle of Heaven's voice was to bring them in, to encourage their faith, so that they could change their lives and live for God. We like to go to the show, get all excited, fall on the floor and shake a little, but then not change but continue in the same "blessing junkie" mentality.

The greatest thing is love. It is seeing the transformation of one's life through the manifestation of God in his/her life. It is now knowing that we have overcome the temptations that used to haunt us, and that we are delivered from the fear and worry that controlled our lives. What good is a financial blessing if you go back and start gambling with it again, or spending it to go to the club and get drunk? What good is being healed of AIDS if you still can't keep your pants zipped up? What good is speaking in tongue on Friday night and Sunday morning, if you still 'cuss' and have wrath with every other word the rest of the time. None. I pray that we truly understand the most important things of God, and truly seek to live for Him. I pray that we truly first seek the Kingdom of Heaven and His righteousness, purely out of love for Him, and then accept all those things that might follow. I pray that our heart's intention is truly on God and not on ourselves, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen. Be strong, have love, and be blessed according to His will for your life.
By the grace of God,

Kelvin
