There will soon be a much more detailed study on this through the Institute but as an introduction I pose a question, both rhetorical and external. In your faith walk, or even better, in your congregational atmosphere, are you playing the field or the bench? When we look at the church from a sports or training point of view, it helps to clarify our responsibilities as members of the congregation. When was the last time you saw the coach doing the great and wonderful achievements of the athletes? Not very often. The coach(pastor) is responsible for preparing the players(congregation) for playing the field(living in this world). While the pastor may have the ability, and surely has the knowledge to "tackle the conflicts" of daily life, their main purpose is to train us to begin using those same abilities and gifts of the spirit in our DAILY (not on Sunday only) lives. We are meant to be soldiers; we might go through basic training and drills, but the purpose is not for us to only practice but to be able to use that which we have learned in real life application. Are you trying to play the bench and just sit under your pastor, or are you prepared to get on the battlefield and exercise the anointings that you have been blessed with? I hoep it's the latter. Just another thought to think.
