Signed Copy of My FAB Years DESTROYED!
Hi Sylvia, I collect signed biographies/autobiographies of people whose work and/or lives I admire. For a long time I have been hoping to get your signature in my copy of Yes M'Lady, as I have been a big fan of your wonderful Supermarionation shows since watching the first run of Fireball XL5 as a 5 year-old in the sixties. One of my hobbies is making full-size replica puppets from those shows along with full-scale props for them (Phones with his Injector Seat, Steve Zodiac on his Jetmobile etc.) I was delighted when your new book, 'My FAB Years' was published and Amazon.com offered signed copies for sale. After a three-week wait my copy (no. 94 of 300) arrived yesterday while I was out at work. Incredibly, and for reasons best known to himself, the postie decided to pop the package over the fence into my back garden where my manic one-year old Boxer Dog lives during the day. The stout packaging was no match for Salem, and when I got home it was to find your much-anticipated beautiful, signed, hardback book completely dismembered and strewn around the garden. I could have wept. The Royal Mail told me that I have to contact Amazon and that they should replace the book and claim against the Royal Mail via their own carriers in America. I am currently waiting for a reply from Amazon having emailed them last night. I was wondering, if Amazon should be unwilling or unable to replace the book whether you will be doing a signing anywhere as I would dearly like an unmolested copy. I live in Hampshire, but I would be prepared to travel a long way to see you and to buy another copy if you would be so good as to sign it for me. My very best wishes to you, and may you have every success with 'My FAB Years', Duncan Willis, Whiteley, Hants. |
