Welcome! This forum is about interpersonal manipulation (especially in its extreme forms) and also about how we are all the hero of our own stories, our own lives.

Highly manipulative relationships and groups include battering relationships, cults, and many others which are more subtle and therefore harder to spot. Being a healthy hero is centered on the opposite -- becoming as autonomous as possible and endorsing the autonomy of others.

Subject:   Trapped by cultic group/spouse/job supervisor

Message:   I, unknowingly, married into a cultic, so-called Christian group 12 years ago. I did not become aware of the fact that this group is cultic until the last 5 or 6 years. I have 3 children by this woman and love her deeply but I will no longer allow myself to be manipulated by her. My area of concern now involves my job. Some of my previous supervisors have been members of this group and it appears that my current supervisor and/or his manager is also a part of this group. Any ideas or suggestions on breaking free from this group's influence? Many would not consider this group a cult but I see the markings of a cult within it and I have seen their use of manipulation and intimidation first hand. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
