Re: Spiritual development

Hi Gerry. Although this website is not a spiritualist website as such, I will answer your question as best I can. People need a certain amount of ego to help them in life, but to use the same ego when working with the spiritual energies can block your awareness of who is working with you, as the ego gets in the way of true harmony in your work for spirit.

Re: Spiritual development

Gerry, WOW Hannah explained that very. I feel ego gets in the way of your spiritual walk with God. If you are giving faith advice to someone and they report back to you saying you was right, we need to let go of our ego and praise God and not ourself.

It is hard not to take any glory for helping someone and bringing them closer to God. We are human and sometimes we like to take credit for our spiritual works.

God Bless,
Lon

Re: Spiritual development

Hi Gerry,

I don't believe ego has anything to do with spirituality. I think spirituality is lost from not opening your heart up freely and completely with trust in God so He can enter our souls.

Once we do this, we feel Him in everything that we do.

Re: Spiritual development

Hi Alberta. I agree with you to a point, but I think the Lord in his wisdom allows us to decide for ourselves what we think our spirit/soul needs. We are human with human frailities, and the ego does come into the equation with some their ego's make them believe they are God. But there is one true path in life and that is to love another as the master Lord Jesus taught us. With the spirit and light of God wihin us we have nothing to fear as long as we work in a humble way. God Bless. ^j^

Re: Spiritual development

Spiritual development does come from within us. It usually takes a knock on our door and open our eyes. I had that happen when I had taken care of my dad before he died. That was when I opened my heart and looked at life and death differently.

I'm glad I had the experience and had realized the path that I had been avoiding in life. Finding God again, had helped me through the pain of losing my daughter last year and my mother seven weeks later.

Spirituality is now my life with my outlook on things that I do.

Re: Spiritual development

Hi all, I don't think God lets us "decide" for ourself what our spiritual self need's, i mean, maybe the outer self, or Ego makes that mistake, true spirituality comes from within without any effort or "development", just like we learn wisdom as we grow older, it's something one can't teach another but to an extent it's in build in ourselfs, and also, just like Alberta said, we need that wake up call, to bring it to the surface, sorry about your dad Alberta:(, God Bless you

Re: Spiritual development

Hi Gerry,
Religion and Politics can sure be an never ending battle on opinions.

I believe it is our choice. God gives us "Free Will" to make decisions. I DO agree with spiritual growth and the older we get with anything, we look at things differently.

How many times do you hear someone say, "If I could just do it over again!" Wisdom comes with age, hurt, disappointments and loss. What a shame that we don't listen to our elders and learn from them. As young people, we believe that we know it all and that our parents are not "With the Times."

Ways change but the issues are still the same through the years. We just look at things differently with adult eyes and hearts.
