M13 phagemid/ helper phage infection???
Hi guys, I've got a few questions about M13Phagemid/ helper phage infection of E. coli. From what i understand once the cells have been infected with M13+helper and phage protein production commences, the cells are no longer able to be infected due to changes in F' pilus structure???. Firstly, is it possible for more than one phagemid to infect a single E. coli cell. if not what prevents more than one phagemid infecting a single cell? Secondly, do helper phage infect in a similar way as phagemids, ie through the F' pilus. If both phagemid and helper can infect a single cell, why can't 2 phagemids?? thirdly can more than one helper phage infect a single cell?? I would appreciate any help or comments with either of these points, Thanks, Sam. |
