Fecal transpalnt to cure superbug
Hi All: There was a rather graphic story on CBC news on using a cocktail of feces from close relatives and transplant them into patients suffering from C. difficile infections - see http://www.cbc.ca/health/story/2007/11/13/fecal-transplant.html or search "Don't poo-poo technique: Fecal transplant can cure superbug, doctors say." The question that comes to mind what kind of regulatory approval/mechanism is involved? (Are there Rx feces?) and might phages be involved at least in some patients? |
