Ersatz Phages
If you go to http://blog.wired.com/wiredscience/2007/07/designer-virus-.html you will find an article saying that scientists are starting to build bacteriophages from scratch. The question will be: Will regulatory agencies be any more receptive to using artificial phages to treat human infections than they have been to allow use of natural, lytic phages with 80 years of safe use record? |
