HI Guys,
I have/still am using the Florite paint on my jeep, its good, but i initially, (and others have found) that it rubs off VERY easily with petrol, and even after drying for several days/a week with thinners- this i didnt like. Did you find this Bruce? Mark Weltner spoke to me about it, and i mentioned it to keith adams also.
I spoke to the owner, and he said try adding some hardener, i have done this, and after about 2 weeks when it has fully set, you can rub petrol and thinners o it till your hearts content and it wont budge! That made me a happy little camper.
There are 2 colours i think he has, one is the darker one trevor uses, and one is a lighter colour that Keith got mixed up, it is called "ARMY BEIGE SATIN", or "the lighter paint, not the one trevor uses!" often gets a response!
Florite has good paint (eventually), good colour and i was quite happy. Though i might do some more searching around for the next jeep-try to get something that is more yellower/closer to WW2 OD as i found the florite lighter OD to be a smidge greeny/grey for my liking- Different primers and consistencies did make a difference though to the final product.
Currently though 1944 OD is being analysed in queensland by a paint chemist in order to reproduce correct late war paint, from then, early war lighter paint shouldn't be too far off.
Cheers,
Ian. |
