Splints
Dean, I have a 2yo that has about 20 rides on him last week I notices he had a splint on the inside of one of his front legs about a inch or two below his knee. I have been sweating him with a DMSO wrap for the past week & staying off of him.The vet had me give him 1gram of bute twice a day for one week. The vet also said that the splint may not disappear for a year or two but that does'nt mean he will not be sound. This is a very special 2yo & I dont want to get back on him too soon. I'm going to stay off of him & keep sweating for another week. I would just like to see what your opinion is. Thanks, Johnny |

Re: Splints
Johnny, Do not get worried about it. Ninety percent of splints turn out to be nothing. But if the horse is sore on it give him some time off. Also I have found that ( and allot of people will probably disagree with me ) most splints are caused by improper hoof balance. Dean Brown |
