tongue over bit
Hi Dean: My mare is wearing a 3 piece, snaffle, type bit with very, very short shanks. The piece in the middle is in a half moon shape with a bit of copper on top. She keeps trying to put her tongue over it and does She seems to do this as I ask for her face in the lope, otherwise at walk and trot she is soft and not fussing with her tongue. I tightened it up and she is still trying to get her tongue over it. I switched her into this bit from a twisted wire snaffle. If I should try another bit, what would you suggest? |

Re: tongue over bit
You could try a different bit but if you like this bit use it. You tightened it up and if she can not get her tounge over it she will get over the idea. There are a million types of bites out here. Use what you feel comfortable with. You just came out of a snaffe you might try a short shanked correction bit otherwise know as a Hanson correction. Dean Brown |
