large fast small slow transition

hi dean, when you're in the showpen what are your steps from your large fast to your small slow. do you have a preferred way to make this transition, and why. thanks karen.

Karen,
My prefered method to make this transistion is to run right to middle then slow down.
Some horses need a little more time so maybe on some horses I would back off just after the 3 cone and then slow down in middle.
I like to train them to slow down almost instantly. So usually there is only one step. Slow down and steer in.

dean, what are your body cues to slow at centre without breaking before you turn them in?
