bloodlines

This isn't really a training question, and I guess it could be for anyone..
I have a 4 year old that I've been working with myself, and he has sires on his dam's side called Kid Five Cody and Kid Kodiak...I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with this bloodline in general. I've heard some good things about these horses but I'm not too familiar with a lot of the reining/performance horse bloodlines to know what's what.
Also, his sire's side traces back to King-P234 and wasn't sure if that type of line would accent his potential reiner ability. All I know is he has the look of a reiner and I'm really hoping what little reining blood he has in him will come through!! Haha..thanks for any info!!

Re: bloodlines

I see kid kodiak is by kid five cody. He looks to have some pretty good blood on his sires side there. What about the dam side? I firmly believe in mare power!

Another thing you can do is measure him up and see how balanced he is built for reining.

Re: bloodlines

Actually, the Kid Five Cody line runs on his dam's side. His dam's name is Nike Kid (I don't think she ever did anything big; she was trained to be a 4H horse, then turned into a broodmare). Nike Kid's sire is Kid Five Cody.
His sire is I'm King's Black Jack, which goes back to King-P234. The sire is about 87% (or more, I don't remember) foundation. I wasn't sure if this line had any significance in the reining/cowhorse world.
Thanks for the info though!

Re: bloodlines

Britt,
Sounds like your horse is fairly well bred. It sounds like you like this horse. The only way to tell what he is going to do is when you ride him and ask him to do it. As far as conformation goes I have hade more horses look like the should not rein and they do and ones that look like they should and don't . If you really want to find out everyting go to aqha's web site and do some performance searches and do the same with NRHA's web site. It will cost you 20 or 30 dollars when you are all done but atleast you will know.
