futurity pattern
This is a pretty simple one. What pattern is most common for a futurity event? About how many organizations hold futurities? Also are there any events for a two year old? I had saw APHA had a two year old walk trot class wich doesn't me anygood with QH. I'd like to get him out to some show grounds and get him used to it. We are pretty lucky where we are. We are located just next to some softball fields and high school football field. Plenty of noises with the crowds cheering, loud speaker and starter guns at the track meets along with the night time lights. I'd still like to get him used to the show grounds, being around other studs and mares. What is like when you first take a stud to a show? Anything you do keep there attention and keep them from drawing attention? I'm sure alot of guys ace their horses. |

Re: futurity pattern
John, Patterns 5,6,8,7,4 are some pretty good common futurity patterns. As a two year old there are some two year old pleasure classes in the quarter horse in the fall. I would not take my horse out to get exposure until I knew that it was broke enough that I am not going to run into problems or teach it any bad habits. As far as studs go ( again the broker they are the better off you will be.) trying to discipline a young two year old for being a jerk if he is not broke enough all your going to end up with is a stud the whinnies and then freaks out. He will correspond the whinnying to a flight response instead of a focused on you response. Dean Brown |
