a new frenchy cowgirl!!!

Hello! I'm french, so my english is not very good!!
I have bought the training DVD, and when I'll watch it,maybe I'll have some questions to ask you!!
It's pleasant to know I can have a professional help trainer!!

Just a little question before to see the video! When do you know the moment to change your bit's horses? to pass a D-ring snaffle bit to a shank snaffle, for example?
what are your criteria, to change it?

thanks.
Sylvia.

Re: a new frenchy cowgirl!!!

Sylvia,
Usually when I feel I am not making the progress that I feel we should be making with that particular horse I will change the bit to a short shanked snaffel. After that bit I would probably go to a Hanson short shanked correction bit.

Re: a new frenchy cowgirl!!!

Hello! and thanks a lot for this advice!

I've not yet received the DVD, I'm impatient!!

About the bit: I usually used Myler bits, and I used a comfort D-ring snaffle level one, and now I try (last saturday for the first time) a comfort shank snaffle with a 7" flat shank, level one.

and I have no assignment from this head! she makes her head up!! in a walk and in a jog! but she understand very good to roolback and turn with the rein contact!but with the head held high!
I have to explain you the context, I have no manege for the moment(it's in building!) so I ride my horses outside for the moment. And I have this 6 years old mare QuarterH. for some month! so we ride a lot outside for walking and stay in a good physical fitness in winter! but she's a little bit absent-minded!! she prefers watching the countryside than working with me!!!
And she hates go outside without her horses friends!!!
So if you have an idea to help me, it's interest me!!
