Forward motion
Hi Dean, My young colt (3y.o on next May) have not so much forward motion, what can I do to improve this thing? Which is the right thing to do to get a horse that response nicely ( I mean quickly) to my leg and rein in a spin or a roll back. Thank you so much for your help. Massimiliano

Re: Forward motion
Massimiliano, You need to teach your horse how to listen to your leg. For a horse that is dull I find it very helpfull to almost pretend to kick my horse with my leg and then bump with your leg harder and harder until the horse jumps away. Then repeat until you go through the pretend motion like you are going to use your leg aggressivly and the horse responds as if you did use your leg hard. Thus you have created more feel in your horse. For a dull horse at times you almost need to get the horse scared of your leg a little bit so he settles into something you like. Dean Brown |
